Requirements

  1. At least 2GB Ubuntu droplet
  2. Elasticsearch 5.6
  3. Supervisor ubuntu package
  4. PHP >= 7.1
  5. Sparkpost account
  6. Access to the DNS records of the domain that will be used to send

2GB Ubuntu Droplet

This will be useful in providing the RAM required for the Elasticsearch service to run behind the scenes and also dispatching of queued jobs for scheduled emails etc.

Elasticsearch 5.6

 This indexes records and improves the searching experience. Version 5.6 plays nicely with Tulip.

PHP >= 7.1

Laravel itself requires PHP >= 7.0 but Tulip needs 7.1 to function correctly. We'll see later how to configure our droplet to use 7.1 by default.

Sparkpost Account

There is a free 15,000-email-limit developer account which you can start with in Sparkpost.

Access to the DNS

This is required for setting up Sparkpost's sending domains and also verification of ownership and improving deliverability.

Plesk

Plesk is a server management software. It's not required here as you can still use Tulip without it. But instructions on how to proceed will assume you are using it.
